Overview

The Umbwe Route 6 Days stands as the briefest path to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. This trail, especially after recent rainfall, can prove to be a challenging and muddy endeavor. The ascent to the initial camp, Umbwe Cave, is characterized by steep and rugged terrain. Despite its difficulties, this route presents a genuine sense of adventure, making it an ideal choice for intrepid climbers seeking a challenging and daring experience.

    Itinerary

    • Day 01: Arrival in Moshi

    • Day 02: Umbwe Cave (Hiking Time: 6-8 hours / Altitude: 3000 m)

    • Day 03: Barranco Valley (Hiking Time: 4-6 hours / Altitude: 3950 m)

    • Day 04: Karanga Campsite (Hiking Time: 4-5 hours / Altitude: 4000 m)

    • Day 05: Barafu Camp (Hiking Time: 4-5 hours / Altitude: 4600 m)

    • Day 06 Mweka Forest Camp (Hiking Time: 13-15 hours / Altitude: 3100 m)

    • Day 07: Mweka Forest Camp to Mweka Gate (Hiking Time: 3-5 hours / Altitude: 1650 m)

    • Day 08: Moshi to Kilimanjaro International Airport or Further Tanzanian Adventures

    • Personal Expenses (e.g. laundry, telephone, beverages, etc.)

    • Tips and any items of personal nature
    • Health requirements (Yellow Fever – only compulsory if you travel to Tanzania via a Yellow Fever infected country, Meningitis & Hepatitis A remains optional, but comes recommended)
