A Journey of Wonder: Carrina’s Family 9-Day Safari with Serengeti Clarity

When Carrina first visited Africa 20 years ago, it was Kenya that stole her heart. This year, she returned—this time with her husband and their children—to show them the beauty she had never forgotten. The kids were worried at first, unsure of what Africa would be like… but by the end of their 9-day safari with Serengeti Clarity, Africa had become “the sweetest place they’ve ever been.”

Guided by our exceptional safari expert Calvin, the family experienced Tanzania in a way that will stay with them forever.

Day 1: The First Step on African Soil

The adventure began in Arusha. After a peaceful overnight stay, the family woke up to their very first morning in Tanzania. Outside their hotel, they took what Carrina called “the first real family picture on African soil”—a photograph they said would be framed as one of their most meaningful memories.

Their first park was Tarangire National Park, the land of giants. The children were astonished by the endless herds of elephants—“millions,” they said excitedly—and mesmerized by the towering baobab trees.
They loved every moment: the wildlife, the scenery, and especially the food. The picnic table setups amazed them, making them say, “This is the best food ever!”

The Journey to the Serengeti

As they traveled toward Serengeti National Park, the landscape opened up into golden plains. Upon arrival, the sun began to set, painting the sky in red and gold. They watched the Serengeti sunset from the lodge and simply couldn’t look away.

Then came a dream moment: a sundowner by the pool, surrounded by silence, beauty, and endless horizon. For the family, it felt like living inside a postcard.

Witnessing the Great Migration

The Serengeti gifted them one of nature’s greatest shows—the Great Wildebeest Migration. They saw thousands of wildebeest and zebra moving like waves across the plains.

A powerful moment came when they watched a baby wildebeest being hunted by a crocodile. It was sad, but the family understood: this is nature, raw and real, and part of the circle of life.

A Dinner to Remember – Meeting Professor Haker

One of their favorite memories happened at Kubu Kubu Lodge. By pure coincidence, they met another Serengeti Clarity guest—Professor Haker. The team set up a special shared dinner table for them.
They laughed, shared stories, exchanged safari experiences, and created a friendship they never expected.
Carrina said,“This was one of the best nights of the whole trip.”

The Rhinos They Almost Missed

In the Ngorongoro Crater, the only animal they missed was the rhino… or so they thought.
But life had a surprise waiting.

On their final morning at Melia Lodge, before leaving, they suddenly spotted more than five white rhinos grazing peacefully. It turned into one of the biggest highlights of their journey.

A View from Above – Lake Manyara Viewpoint

At the Lake Manyara viewpoint, the family stood silently, taking in the endless scenery. They described it as “one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen.”

The Maasai Chief of Africa – A Memory to Keep Forever

One of the funniest moments came from the young hero of the family. He bought a traditional Maasai stick—a rungu—as a souvenir.
He proudly announced:

“I am now officially the Maasai Chief of Africa!”

The whole safari team laughed with him, creating a cherished memory they will carry home forever.

Thank You, Carrina and Family

We at Serengeti Clarity are deeply grateful that you chose us for this special adventure.
